There are many people out there that engage in the debate website v blog.. Its about time Ignite entered the debate.
As you can see I have gone for wordpress to manage my content for my domain. Why did I go for wordpress when some people say wordpress is blogging software?
Well wordpress is so much more than just blogging software.
Wordpress is:-
CMS - A content management system
SEO Friendly - Once set up the engines love fresh content
Open source - Its free and updates are free
Its a publishing system - A marketer once said to me “if you write the content you
control the content”
You connect with the reader easier when a blog is more personal than writing website corporate copy
This doesnt mean that websites are the wrong way when looking ast providing an online presence..
My home church is http://www.KingsBolton.co.uk
That is our domain and we are currently working on adding a blog on to a subdomian which is
http://www.kingsbolton.co.uk/blog
This way you get the best of both worlds..
Church branding - Some simple steps.

So yesterday, I spoke about the importance of church branding. Today I have a few thoughts on what we should do when looking at a brand, evaluating your current church brand.
Over the last few years, I have been an online marketer and I have used self-branding to give myself credibility within an industry. Whether you think you have a church brand or not you do. Whether you are utilizing that brand for the good of your church to gain influence is another matter.
You see your church is a brand; your church brand attracts or repels. In my opinion, every church does both. It would be great if a church appealed to every person on the planet but in reality it does not.
In order to have a church brand that works for you I would use these points below.
- Pray over where God is calling you. What demographic and what brand would fit with them.
- Look at the kinds of interests your target audience may have. Your brand is not just about your logo, although it does happen to make a difference.
- Don’t try and be something your not. Regardless of what demographic your church is looking to attract. As I said before your church appeals to a certain demographic, whether that young, old, business or surfers. Your brand has to look like that. In essence, don’t try and have a website or brand that looks completely different to your Sunday experience. You may get people there but you won’t keep them there.
- If you don’t know what to do, outsource it. If you don’t know a Hebrew word you don’t just make it up and have a go, you look for a resource that does know. We as a church need not to be wary of bringing in people to do what is needed but embrace it.
The brand doesn’t just encompass the website, logo and stationary but the whole picture.
