Yesterday I was on skype to my friend and buddy John in Sydney. John is a Christian entrepreneur and is really doing well marketing online. John is one of my go to guys when I need to bounce some ideas. We had a really good catch up about life firstly then he introduced me to a cool new website that I could use to intro some of my training and marketing videos.
This website looks pretty awesome, long gone are the days of slide shows. This website creates videos using pictures you may have on your facebook account, other web 2.0 sites or on your computer. It then allows you to integrate your music or some of their library then converts it into a professional video. This is a great tool to create quick videos to show at your Church.

What does web 2.0 mean to the Christian world and Christian marketing?

There has been lots of hype around web 2.0 and how the internet has changed. Google bought youtube for over a billion dollars? Why was that? You would think google had it sewn up right? Wrong, the way people used the internet has changed. Over half of the content on the web is now video, and that is largely dominated by users posting their own.
Web 2.0 for the Christian world is massive. The internet has changed in such a way that internet users want to connect, discuss and use the internet to learn and put their own point of view across. The Christian community can use web 2.0 to engage with a lost and dying world. The most popular websites on the planet are youtube, facebook, and myspace. There are common misconceptions that these are only for spotty kids that may be branded as geeks. This is wrong. All ages groups now use these sites and they are prime places to spread the Christian message in a relevant manner.
I have been using facebook, myspace and youtube to drive daft amounts of traffic to my site. Churches and Christian para organisations can do the same.
So I urge the Christian community to embrace web 2.0 engage it and use it. If you are unsure and need help then I would love to add value.

Steve has been working in online marketing for the last 10 years. Since becoming a Christian 3 years ago his heart changed from making money to building the Kingdom of God and a vision was birthed to create a series of training courses to aid the church and Christian para-organisations
